Privacy Policy

Effective Date: 26 January 2026

1. Who we are

This Privacy Policy applies to Renumber It (the "App"), operated by Jonathan Chan trading as Renumber It (ABN28 461 511 016) ("we", "us", "our"). You can contact us at [insert privacy contact email].

2. Scope

This policy explains how we handle personal information when you access and use renumberit.com (the "Site"). It does not cover third-party websites or services that we do not own or control.

3. Core privacy promise: your filenames stay in your browser

Renumber It is designed so that the filenames you paste into the App and the renumbered output are processed locally in your browser.

  • We do not receive, store, or transmit your pasted filenames or your renumbering results to our servers.
  • We do not store "jobs", histories, or copies of your inputs/outputs.

4. Information we collect (account and billing data)

Renumber It uses OAuth-only authentication (Google and Microsoft). We do not store passwords.

4.1 Account information

We store:

  • Email address (from your OAuth provider)
  • Profile information you choose to share (such as your name and profile image, if provided)
  • Email verification status (as provided by your OAuth provider)
  • Account timestamps (such as when your account was created/updated)
  • Access-control records for paid features (for example, whether you have Pro access, the expiry date if applicable, and whether access came from an invite code or an admin grant)
  • Invite code redemption records (we record which user redeemed which code, and when)

We do not collect or store the filenames you paste into the App or the renumbered output (see section 3).

4.2 Subscription and billing (Stripe)

If you purchase a subscription, we store:

  • your Stripe customer and subscription identifiers
  • your plan/entitlement level (for example Free/Pro)
  • your subscription status (for example active, trialling, cancelled, past due) and renewal/expiry date

We do not store your payment card details. Payments are processed by Stripe.

5. Analytics (TelemetryDeck)

We use TelemetryDeck to collect anonymised usage analytics to understand how the App is used and to improve it.

  • TelemetryDeck is configured so analytics are not tied to identifiable users in our systems.
  • TelemetryDeck processes analytics under its own privacy policy.

6. Cookies and session data

We use cookies only for session/authentication so you can stay signed in.

  • We do not use marketing cookies.
  • We do not use analytics cookies.
  • Session information for authentication of accounts is stored in our PostgreSQL database.

7. How we use information

We use the information described above to:

  • provide and administer your account (including login via Google/Microsoft)
  • provide, validate, and manage subscriptions and access to paid features
  • administer invite codes and Pro access grants
  • operate, maintain, and secure the Site
  • analyse anonymised usage patterns (TelemetryDeck) to improve the App

8. Sharing and disclosure

We share or disclose data in limited circumstances, including:

  • OAuth providers (Google / Microsoft): You authenticate with them. We receive basic profile information (such as email and optional name/profile image) from them as described above.
  • Stripe: Processes subscription payments and subscription management (including Stripe Checkout and the Stripe Customer Portal).
  • Infrastructure providers: The Site is hosted on AWS, and standard web hosting logs may be generated and retained by AWS under their policies.
  • TelemetryDeck: Receives anonymised analytics signals as described above.
  • Legal and safety: If required by law, court order, or to protect rights, safety, or prevent fraud/abuse.

We do not sell personal information.

9. Overseas disclosures

Some third-party providers (for example Google, Microsoft, Stripe, and analytics providers) may process information on servers located outside Australia. Where this occurs, those providers handle information under their own privacy policies and security measures.

10. Data retention

  • Filenames and renumbering content: Not retained by us (processed locally in your browser).
  • Account and subscription records: Retained while your account remains active and as reasonably necessary for operations, security, dispute handling, and compliance.
  • Provider logs/records: Hosting logs and third-party records (e.g., Stripe billing records; OAuth provider logs; TelemetryDeck signals) are retained according to those providers' policies and any legal requirements.

We take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify personal information that we no longer need, subject to legal and legitimate operational requirements.

11. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the account and billing identifiers we store (such as access controls and encryption in transit). However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and you use the Site at your own risk.

12. Your rights (Australia)

Under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles, you may request access to, or correction of, personal information we hold about you. Contact us at [insert privacy contact email].

13. Account closure and deletion requests

Renumber It does not currently offer self-serve account deletion. If you would like to close your account or request deletion of personal information we hold, contact us at [insert privacy contact email].

We will take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify personal information that we no longer need, subject to legal and legitimate operational requirements (for example, retaining billing and transaction records handled by Stripe).

14. Children

The Site is intended for users aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

15. Changes

We may update this policy to reflect changes in law, providers, or App functionality. We will post the updated version on renumberit.com and update the effective date above. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.

16. Complaints

If you believe we have breached the Australian Privacy Principles, contact us at [insert privacy contact email]. If unresolved, you may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
